He was born November 9, 1939 in Leonardsburg to the late John S. and Adah M. (Claypool) Kanniard. He married Mary “Dessie” Helton August 9, 1963 in Columbus and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Harold (Verna) Kanniard, Jr. of Piqua, Raymond (Julie) Kanniard of Conway, South Carolina; a daughter, Pamela (Mark) Dahm of Early, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Kanniard, Billy Kanniard; and seven sisters, Irene Kanniard, Maxine Hienz, Catherine Craley, Evelyn Headrick, Ruthie Davis, Dorothy (Dick) Hill, and Pauline (Dave) Davis. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Richard, and Robert; and one sister, Doris.

Over the years, he has worked in several capacities including as a factory worker for North American Aircraft, Decker’s, as a farmer, and Aerovent. He finally found where he was supposed to be, at Copperweld where he worked and eventually retired after 37 years. He was a member of the AmVets Post #0066 and the American Legion Post #184. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on cars. Later on in life, he dedicated himself to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; who he loved deeply, keeping himself extremely involved in their lives.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 am Thursday February 14, 2019 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Euton officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Lockington, where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.
