CHRISTIAN L. “CHRIS” EVANS
Christian L. “Chris” Evans, 87, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 12:30 p.m. Saturday April 3, 2021 at the Piqua Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 13, 1933 in Piqua to the late Jack and Pearl (Dowty) Evans. He married Crystal Arlene Denman May 11, 1957 in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include two children, Mindy (Robert) Hodge, Michael W. (Terry) Evans all of Piqua; six grandchildren, Holly (Clete) Francis, Heather (Craig) Landefeld, Elizabeth (Mitch) Bolin, Mitch (Kacie) Evans, MacKenzie (Ben) Gover, Quentin Evans; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. .
Chris was a 1952 graduate of Piqua Central High School and retired in 1995 from Hobart Corporation/ITW following forty years of employment. He was an active member of the Piqua Salvation Army Corp. where he served in many volunteer capacities including life membership of its Advisory Committee and he was awarded the prestigious William Booth Award. He was a basketball and football official for 19 years and served as the President of the West Central Ohio Officials Association. Additionally, he was active with and served as the President of the Piqua Park Board, Piqua Golf Board, the Piqua High School Athletic Boosters and coached PeeWee football for several years. He will be remembered for his devout faith, civic pride, friendliness and making sure Santa Claus visited as many children as possible. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.
A service to honor his life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday April 9, 2021 at the Piqua Salvation Army Corp with Major Robert Klenk officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the name of Chris to the Salvation Army, 129 S.
